Armed Forces Covenant
We at Link recognise the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business and to our country. We pledge to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:
- promoting the fact that we are an Armed Forces-friendly organisation, to our staff, customers, suppliers, contractors and wider public.
- supporting the employment of veterans, recognising military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection process; working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to support the employment of Service leavers.

Guide Dogs UK
Guide Dogs UK are an important charity partnership for Link as they provide and train Guide dogs to assist people with visual impairment so that they have the confidence and support to live their lives to the full. Their ambition is to reach and support 500,00 individuals by 2023. They currently support 200,00 individuals who have a visual impairment.
Despite the devastation caused by sight loss, 70% of adults receive no support within the first 12 months of diagnosis, and are likely to encounter poor education, high unemployment, depression, loneliness and financial insecurity throughout their lifetime.
The rise in the UK’s elderly population continues to impact social care. With shortages in funding, local authorities have prioritised the services they provide, leaving the third sector under great pressure to plug gaps.
Childhood sight loss is on the increase. There are around 35,000 children and young people living with a vision impairment in the UK. Some 80% of a child’s learning takes place using vision, and every day they go without support can affect their development.
Guide Dogs UK provide the following services:
- Canine services
- In-person services
- Online and telephone service
- Influencing and campaigning
They also carry out research on Canine science – to support the behaviour, health and wellbeing of our dogs.
Human behavioural sciences – to support the emotional wellbeing of our service users, their family and friends.
Derian House Children’s Hospice
Link Contracting is a family run business and this means that family is a very important part of us which makes it only natural that Derian House Children’s Hospice would become an important charity to ourselves. Derian House looks after children and young people living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions (as well as their siblings, parents and grandparents). They do this in a variety of ways:
The Hospice – Planned short break respite, Emergency respite, Physiotherapy, Sensory room, Family accommodation, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Hydrotherapy, Symptom management, End of life care, Transition to adult services, Play specialists, Advance Care Planning, Day respite care
The Family – Family support workers, Social workers, Stay and play, Family Splash, Sibling support, Family day care, Counselling, Complementary therapies, Representation and support at social care meetings
Perinatal – Support from diagnosis, Working with hospital teams, Education and training, Support on NICU, Introducing families to the Hospice, Support with Advance Care Planning, Bereavement support
Bereavement – Care after death in Sunflower rooms, Bereavement support groups for all family, Counselling, Memento work, Forget me Not remembrance service, Siblings Treasure Days, Grandparents groups, Reflection room
The Community – 24 hour advice line, End of life care at home, Symptom management, Respite care at home, Links with hospitals and community nursing teams
